Java, the main character, is a fun-loving Bullmastiff. He may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he makes up for that with his charming personality. Java is well-rounded, to say the least; he’s a working model, and a performer at a nightclub on weekends. He has an on-again/off-again romance with his roommate, Heidi, and a love/hate relationship with his younger roommate, Maddie. From deciding to become Spanish (and consequently pronouncing his name “Hava”), to entering rap battles, to holding down a job; Java’s image is as diverse as his occupations.

Every trio needs a voice of reason, and in this group Heidi plays that role. She is a cute Mutt, but often whines and complains about Java and Maddie’s antics. Although her criticism can be annoying, Java and Maddie know they would be nothing without her guidance. For all her worrying, Heidi still knows how to play hard and she sometimes dances at the nightclub with Java.

As playful and dazed as they come, Maddie is a loving golden retriever pup. A true wild child, Maddie often comes across as sounding dumb when she speaks. She is a wonderful pastry chef and can often be found in the kitchen, wearing a chef hat and singing as she bakes. Although she does a great job of annoying Java, he is always a good sport and she’d be hard pressed to really bother him. Maddie’s arch enemy is the neighborhood duck, whom (she believes) is stealing her baked goods.
